Tympanometry
Diagnosis & Testing
Tympanometry is a straight forward test that diagnoses hearing loss by measuring eardrum movement using air pressure, identifying any middle ear disfunction.
Ossicular Bones Functionality
Tymanometry does not measure hearing loss, it tests the function of the ossicular bones and what resistance there may be movement. It can also confirm a perforated ear drum and its effect on a person’s hearing. A common use is for children who may be suffering with Glue Ear, a condition of a build up of fluid in the middle ear.
How we test
A small bud is inserted in the outer part of the ear canal to make an airtight seal. Attached to a small activator it will gently push air into your ear producing a graph for the audiologist to interpret.
